Why Try to Measure the Universe?

Astronomers have been trying to measure how big the universe is for a while now. They still don't know, and they think it is because it keeps expanding. Now thay found a new way to find out using "The Hubble Constant." This number will be used to calculate the size and age of the universe, and find out about where and how fast galaxies are moving.

This "finding out how big the universe is" thing is pointless! I think the universe is infinite, there is no size. This does not contradict the multiple universe theory, though. The way it works is that our universe is an infinite sheet, and there are infinite sheets above and below us. So why measure the infinite space that is the universe?
